Who and what is our focus?
We serve families with young children — primarily ages 10 and under — in Dane County, Wisconsin and the surrounding areas. The Rainbow Project provides individualized and responsive services within a variety of settings. Services include short- and long-term counseling, prevention and early intervention.
These services are intended to:
Promote positive change within families, including building, strengthening and supporting healthy parent/child relationships
Provide prevention, intervention and treatment for families affected by family violence, including families with patterns that place members at risk for maltreatment or future mental health concerns
Advocate for the mental health needs and support of families and children in the community
Strengthen the community to support those who have experienced trauma
Services offered may include one or more of the following:
Comprehensive diagnostic assessment and developmental evaluation, with emphasis on social-emotional development and behavior for young children and adults
Assessment of parent-child interaction and family relationships
Referral services to other specialized community services for family members
Child play therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Adult treatment and counseling with individuals, couples, families or groups
Parent education in individual settings, parent-child play sessions or group settings
In-home treatment
Interagency coordination, case management and advocacy
Consultation services with teachers, foster parents, nurses and others involved with the family
Individualized service planning
Evaluation and follow-up services
Community education/training
Short- and long-term services are offered, ranging in length from three months to two-and-a-half years or more; the Rainbow Project Staff have experience working with a variety of culturally and economically diverse populations
No one is denied services due to their inability to pay.
